Since 1989, Blumen Gardens has evolved from a small garden design business into a full-service Landscaping Company, year-round Gift and Garden Center, and Event Rental facility.
What began as a humble horticultural endeavor in Joan & Joel Barczak’s backyard has grown into an award-winning landscape design business, gift and garden shop, and event rental facility. Harboring a huge selection of flowers. It now inhabits a campus consisting of indoor and outdoor space for their retail Gift & Garden Shop, as well as their Event Rental Facility.
Also within the Blumen Gardens campus is an on-site Plant Nursery from which it supplies plants for the Landscape Construction and Maintenance Divisions, as well as the retail garden.
Over the past 25 years, Joan & Joel have refurbished and re-purposed the property’s historic factory and surrounding structures, giving Blumen Gardens its distinct ambient setting.
In previous years, the historic factory at 403 Edward Street has been the home to a multitude of manufacturing companies since 1869. Most notable tenants are:
- Marsh Harvester, the factory’s first tenant, 1869 – 1881
- Reuben Ellwood (Sycamore’s 1st Mayor) Manufacturing, 1875 – 1892
- And a long succession of wire manufacturing companies including Anaconda.
Much change has come to this old industrial mecca of Sycamore and much progress is still ensuing as Blumen Gardens grows and continuously changes throughout the seasons and years! Come experience it for yourself.
